Frequently Asked Questions

Lodging

  • All pets are assigned their own kennel throughout the entire duration of their stay, whether that is daycare or boarding (Kennel sizes vary). Their kennel provides a safe space for them to relax in their down time (very important to take breaks from all the excitement!). All kennels have access to fresh water and cots.

What should I bring with my pet?

  • Please do not bring your own dishes, they tend to get broken or switched with the many dishes we have for your pet to use, including slow feed bowls. Dishes for special needs are allowed (raised feeders, specific puzzle feeders ect).

  • We have everything your pet would need such as: dishes, beds, blankets, and litter boxes. You are welcome to bring anything you think your pet would want to have such as: toys, treats, and blankets/beds from home. (Please be mindful of how much you are packing for your pet - they might not need all 12 chew bones for their stay!)

  • If your pet requires medication, our staff is able to administer anything as needed, when you drop your pet off we will go over any instructions you have for them in person as to prevent any confusion.

  • You are welcome and encouraged to bring your own food for your pet and we will follow any instructions you include. We also have refrigeration available for any food or medication that requires it.

  • For your dog we are able to provide Purina Dog Chow, Purina Lamb and Rice and Purina Chicken and Rice dry food. For your cat we are able to provide regular Purina dry Cat food. This is all free of charge. We are also able to use this if your animal runs out of their own food during their stay with us.

New Puppy?

  • At Camp K-9 we welcome dogs (and cats) of all ages, breeds, temperaments and special needs! Puppies are definitely welcome at Camp and we will make sure they have all the care and special attention they need. Our only requirement for young pets is that they have at least completed their first round of puppy (or kitten) vaccines and you are able to provide us proof of this before their stay. All dogs in our care go outside at least 4 times a day for potty breaks but if you are working on potty training, our staff is able to provide additional potty breaks upon request. If your pet happens to have an accident while in their kennel, our staff is very diligent about cleaning it up right away. Depending on the puppy's size, age and past experience with others we will ease them into meeting other dogs in a safe and controlled setting. Daycare is a great option for young dogs to get socialized with other dogs and humans, or just to get those puppy wiggles out!

What if my pet has medications?

  • Staff is able to administer any medications you may have (even Insulin). We ask that each medication is clearly labeled and instructions for administration method, dosage, storage and frequency are provided. Upon check-in, staff will go over all instructions in person to ensure that we are able to safely and properly administer whatever medication your furry friend may need.

My pet has special needs, are they still able to come to Camp K-9?

  • Yes!  We welcome all sizes, ages, breeds and temperaments and will gladly care for your dog or cat with any special needs, whether they may be physical or behavioral. We are able to administer insulin shots, have experience with prosthetics, and have refrigeration for any medication or wet/raw food. Our facility is also all one level for any pets who may have mobility issues. All employees are pet CPR certified within their first year of employment.

  • We are willing to work with pets who have challenging behaviors, we just ask that these behaviors be disclosed before the pets stay. This is so we are prepared and able keep our Campers and staff as safe as possible.

  • We willing to learn any special instructions that come along with your pet, contact us to talk to a staff member about your animals specific needs and what we can do to make their stay as safe and enjoyable as possible!

Do you have a way for me to check on my pet while they are at Camp?

  • You are always welcome to call, text, email or Facebook message us to check in on your pet!

  • Follow us on Facebook! We try to post pictures as much as possible but please understand that our main focus is the care and safety of our Campers so we may not always have the chance to post all of them every day. Just because you don't see pictures doesn't mean they weren't out and doing well!

I have multiple dogs/cats but they can not share a kennel together for health/behavior reasons, what do I do?

  • You can book your pets multiple kennels and we will make sure to keep them in their own individual kennels. If you would still like your dogs to see each other for playtimes let our staff know and outside of their kennel we can have them be with each other or in be in playgroups as normal while being supervised by our staff. If you are more comfortable with your pets being completely separated from each other for their entire stay we can do that as well. Contact us to talk to a staff member about your animals specific needs and what we can do to make their stay as safe and enjoyable as possible!
*Please note that we charge per kennel, so for example if you have two dogs boarding in separate kennels it will be $40 per night per kennel.

Why does Camp K-9 only allow 1 customer/party in the office at a time?

  • At Camp we strive to ensure the safest environment possible for all of our Campers and their human companions. Not all dogs are comfortable making friends with other dogs or unknown people, just as not all people are comfortable meeting unknown dogs. Our "1 customer/party in the office at a time" rule is to ensure a safe and stress free transition in and out of Camp K-9. Staff may ask customers to wait outside if the office is already occupied, even if there aren't any animals currently in the office. It is also asked that when customers are waiting that they do not crowd the door and respect the space of others who are entering/exiting the building. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation!

Office Hours

  • Our office hours are 8:00am-11:00am and 3:30pm-7:30pm. Please be mindful of the time you are stopping in to drop-off or pick-up as it can take up to 20 minutes and we only allow one party in our office at a time.

  • Our staff is available as early as 6:00am for early drop-off Monday through Friday by REQUEST only. There is no early drop off on weekends. Please be mindful that stopping by our office outside of our office hours takes our staff’s time away from the pets in our care and there is no guarantee staff will be in the building.

  • Please note that being a small business we don't always have someone scheduled in the office to answer the phone even during our office hours. Our top priority is always the safety and care of the pets in our building so please be patient with us and leave a message with your full name, phone number and how we can help you and we will return your call as soon as possible.

Does staff stay overnight?

  • Our staff does not stay overnight in our facility but they are not gone for long! There is always someone on property to keep a close eye on the facility overnight, as the owner lives right across the driveway. All campers are let out for final potty breaks at 7pm and staff leaves for the night around 8pm, when all animals are safely tucked into their kennels for the night. All Campers are up and out for potty breaks again at 5:30am (Monday-Friday) and 7:00am (Saturday-Sunday).

What does my dog's first day look like?

  • First days can be overwhelming for everyone, and we try to help your pet adjust the best we can. We take their first day at your pet’s own pace, whether that is getting to know them one on one in a quiet environment such as our playroom or making so many new furry friends that share their same excitement out in our play yard! Having your pet feel comfortable with our staff and facility first is key to a happy Camper!

What is the difference between daycare and boarding?

  • Daycare is when your dog gets dropped off with us in the morning (8-11am) and then gets picked up in the afternoon/evening (3:30-7:30pm) on that same day. Daycare is a great option if you want your dog to be socialized with other dogs and people in a controlled environment, if they have extra energy and need to play or if you are not home for long hours during the day to let them out for potty. This can be compared to bringing a child to daycare. Daycare is priced per day and you will see on our prices page that we do not charge for playtimes when your dog is at daycare, they are already included in the Daycare rate.

  • Boarding is when your dog or cat stays with us for at least one overnight, but can last as long as you require. This is a great option for if you are going out of town and need a place for your pet to stay while you are gone. This can be compared to staying in a hotel for a few nights. Boarding is priced per night so that regardless of what time of day within our hours you drop off/pick up, it is a standard rate just for how many overnights they are with us. Payment at pick up is preferred just in case the amount of time your pet stays with us changes we do not have to arrange additional payment or refunding of money. You will see on our prices page that playtimes are an additional cost when boarding, this is because not everyone that chooses to board their pet with us needs them to have time to play, they may only need a place for them to stay and be cared for while they are gone.

What is a Playtime?

  • A playtime is when your dog gets extra time outside of their kennel to play with other compatible dogs, just one on one with a staff member or to take a walk on our trails with staff. All of the dogs in our care go outside at least 4 times a day for potty regardless of if you choose to add playtimes or not. We can do up to 2 playtimes per day and you may see our prices page for rates per playtime.

  • Safety of the animals in our care is always our top priority so when your dog is out with others they are always supervised by our skilled staff and divided into groups of similar size, temperament and age. We have a large indoor playroom, a 10,000 sq foot play area, walking trails and a dog pond available for your furry friend to enjoy.

Group Playtimes vs. Individual Play

  • Each pet will decide if and when they are ready for the playgroup they fit best in, and some days this can look different than others. We strive on understand ALL of our canine Camper’s temperaments, what they like and what they don’t like, and how they enjoy their playtimes.

  • Group Playtimes are hand selected by our staff members each morning and adjusted throughout the day based on the dog’s behaviors. Our groups are separated based on temperaments and/or size, and groups are always supervised by staff members. These groups may look different day to day for your pet depending on the other Campers we have at the time.

  • Individual Playtimes work great for dogs that aren’t able to play with other dogs during their playtime. They will just get to play one on one with a staff member instead. We understand not all dogs get along (due to behavioral/health issues, temperament, altered or not, etc) and will place any dogs out for individual play if deemed best fit for the animal and our staff’s well-being, or by owner request.
